Story:

On his birthday, Walter Spray, a mobile dog catcher, calls, delaying the dog and his wife. She’s browsed the bookstore, found a novel covered in blood red, a murder mystery with numbers that lives around number 23.
The story captivates Walter: he dreams of it, he considers aspects of his life that can be presented “23”, he searches for the author, he stays in the hotel (room 23) Where the events took place in the novel, and he begins to believe that it was not a novel. His wife and son try to help him, sometimes sympathetically, sometimes to protect him. Gradually, with danger to himself and his family, he closes down on the truth.
